Exams Begin Tomorrow!

Exams for all periods are tomorrow!

Tips for Getting Ready:

- Don't try and cram tonight! You're ready!
- Go to bed early (or at your regular time)
- Don't eat anything funky or new tonight for dinner
- If you normally eat breakfast, eat breakfast. If you don't, then
don't.
- Laugh A LOT between now and tomorrow!
- Move through the test answering the questions you know first. Then
you can study tomorrow night things that you aren't so sure about and
nail them down on Wednesday.

Exam Time!

Hi all!

So, after a successful Art's Eve on Thursday and Our Town performance last night, I'm finally getting around to posting the exam review topics. You'll find in the next post a list of topics that your kids will need to review for they will be on the final exam, Tuesday and Wednesday. We've spent the past few days (and tomorrow) reviewing things that they feel they need more practice on.

Again, the exam is more of a diagnostic than anything else--to help me know, in another way, where your children are at skill-wise.

Hope you've all had a great weekend!

Geometry Quiz Tomorrow

Today we reviewed for our Geometry Quiz tomorrow.

What's the difference in a test and a quiz?

Well, for one thing, it's much shorter!  Plus it is covering just the basic skills that we have covered in this unit, less application.  And it's tomorrow!  I figured a "quiz" also feels better than "test" considering the exam a week from tomorrow.

Here are the skills they should be able to demonstrate tomorrow:

• Identify, define, and write using correct notation: ray, angle, line, line segment, parallel lines, perpendicular lines
• Identify acute, obtuse, right and straight angles
• Estimate and measure an angle using a protractor
• Find the perimeter of squares, rectangles, and triangles
• BONUS – Find the perimeter of many-sided shapes
• Find the area of squares and rectangles
• Identify scalene, isosceles and equilateral triangles

After tomorrow, we're on to review!  More on that later...

All about triangles

Today we studying triangles, their sides, their angles, their names and their measure.  We talked about scalene, isosceles, equilateral... and even found time to play around with all of the angles in a triangle equaling 180.

Homework over the weekend is complete another skills sheet on area and perimeter.  This is all in preparation for our GEometry test NEXT TUESDAY.  Have a great weekend!

AREA!

Today was all about Area... squares and rectangles!  We talked about how to find the area by counting on a grid, as well as the short-cut: multiplying the length and the width.

They have a worksheet for homework this evening... one side is perimeter and the other is area.  They should follow all the instructions!

See the pictures today...

Quiz Day

We took our quiz today!

Overall, a job well done.  Some kids will want to make corrections (actually, if they did miss some I want them to figure out who is who...)... and others are going to need to have a retake.  Check with your child.

Tomorrow its back to perimeter!
